WHAT SHOULD IT HAVE TO OFFER ME?

AICE Media Studies is a course that is most likely to be full of surprises. It will take a lot of hard work to follow along in each lesson and to build up a website and film production to truly show off what I’m capable of as a student filmmaker, and to meet the expectations of many others beyond myself. Ultimately, the results should prove to be effective.

What I expect from the course is not an “easy A”, but instead a challenge to prove that I have what it takes to be in the film industry and be the best that I can be — as I know that there is no such thing as perfection. Throughout the year, I hope to be taught many different skills and components that are used to make a great film and they will be the basis of my productions. It is important that I learn this so that one day beyond the course, I will be able to take this knowledge and use it in the real side of the industry beyond the classroom setting.

Certain aspects of film I look forward to going more in depth on include mise-en-scéne and its many subparts, the different film genres, and how to scriptwrite for many different audiences. I expect that to learn the basics of the many components of film, throughout the course there will be many types of films viewed that I, like many others, will have to analyze both major and minor details aside from the plot. For me I expect it will be more difficult to focus on the little details in films because I generally think more about the plot instead, but with some training of my mind and eyes, I look forward to this course helping me gain the ability to look closely at films and notice such details.
